New kitchen cupboard doors

We are thinking of having new kitchen cupboard doors and worktops fitted.

Has anyone had this done and what did you think of the results?

Can a lot of money be saved this way rather than installing a complete new kitchen?

Thanks for any advice.

  • i have just done it and it has transformed my kitchen. used B&Q doors easy to fit and if you time it right my doors for one of there most expensive kitchens only cost £15 each.

however my carcases looked virtually brand new and were standard size worth checking this first.:T

Thanks very much for replying Hungary. Did you fit them yourselves and did you also do worktops? Just worried about any possible mess to existing tiling.

Someone is calling this week to give us a quote but have a feeling they will be expensive!

    HI LIBRA

WE TOO HAVE HAD THIS DONE AND TOTALLY TRANSFORMED THE KITCHNE RATHER CHEAPLY.

We got bargain half price b and q doors too on a 20% day so they cost about £8 each, and we changed the doors ourselves which was easy. Our hinges had tobe moved, but still worth the extra time.

we bought the worktop from b and q too, but had it fitted professionally. get some quotes as they vary greatly depending on your corners/size of kitchen. If you only have a straight piece of worktop, it is do-it-yourself able. e have a corner that needed mitring and the sink is a real pain to do, so that's why we had it done.

    guestimate £200??

£200 sounds great, thanks for replying. Did you do the cornices above the cupboards and all the extra fittings and bits and pieces? Can they be bought from B & Q?

Just be sure to shop around as quotes for supplying the doors and drawer fronts in our kitchen varied between £700 and £2000+

B+Q are good if your doors all all standard (mine were not) but some of the companys advertised in Sunday papers etc are out to get you .£2000+ just to supply the doors!!!!!
I the end a local door company made the doors to measure for £700.
I nearly bit the guys hand off when he gave me the quote!
Anyway my kitchen is now updated without the hassle of ripping it out.
If you are happy with the layout its the way to go:j
