@OP, I think it may be a little late to reply, but you could get away with telling them there is NO way you can support yourself without pay for a week, and they'll be forced to pay you. Tell them you have no friends or family that will be able to help you out (the question they ask) and that can't refuse you pay. Write this down into the appeal, that way there will be no time for them to make a comeback. If you are asked, be persistent when telling them NO ONE will be able to financially aid you for the week your pay will be cut off. They'll probably ask two or three times. Never say "maybe" or "I don't know." Simply say... No.
Hope this helps.0 -
It's not true that you need 3 "fields of work" on your JSAg as at the new claim stage an adviser could allow you a permitted period (up to 13 weeks) to look for a particular type of occupation. After 13 weeks you are expected to increase your travel to work area and also look at other types of employment.
If I saw Casterweb at his stage 2 (13 week) interview I would have expected to have 3 fields of work on the JSAg by the end of the interview however they would be related to engineering - it's amazing how many jobs fall under a number of SOC codes (the codes that appear on a JSAg).
What I also tell my customers is that the JSAg is a jobseekers agreement, with an emphasis on the word agreement. It can be changed as often as the jobseeker wants as long as they and I are happy.0 -

I think what you are referring to here is the Hardship Allowance - which is only a percentage of JSA (think its 40%??). Well - better than nowt I suppose....(think its only payable if one has no savings at all???)
Might as well put that point in then O.S. if applicable - no harm done by asking. Sounds like good advice too to be very definite that there is NO-ONE who could/would help.0 -

anyway i suspect that if anyone is reluctnat to change something they are advised to they will just get refered for a sanction. so its not really an agreement is it. people have a say but ultimately the jsa worker has the final decision on what goes in it and if you dont like it its tough.0 -
