Why am I paying tax?

Hello, I'm new here and really hope someone can help!
Basically, I've just been on maternity leave for nine months and was made redundant during this time so have started back working a few weeks ago at a new job. It's only a few hours a week which suits me and my daughter really nicely. I've opted for childcare vouchers despite only earning around £6k per year in case I do overtime as I'm under the impression I don't have to pay tax on childcare vouchers.
So, I just had my first wage slip and they have it ALL wrong... I wanted some advice before emailing the woman that deals with the wages etc.
Firstly, they've not paid me for the hours I've submitted.
Secondly, they've set up the childcare vouchers despite me having not yet completed the forms and we had agreed we would start them next month when it's all straight.
Thirdly, I've paid tax on my 'basic gross' which a, I thought I would be exempt from and b, the childcare voucher money hasn't been discluded.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks
ps I didn't pay any National Insurance!?

The tax code on my wage slip says BR 0 M10

This means you don't have a tax allowance. You need to talk to the (I think) payroll department.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You have been taxed at the Basic Rate because the Inland Revenue haven't yet sent your tax code to your employer. Once they do you'll get a refund in with that weeks wage.0

I assume you did not have a P45. You need to contact your payroll dept and ask for a P46. Depending on what you fill in you can then be put onto an emergency code, the P46 can then be sent to the tax office who will then know you are working there and will issue a cumulative code. Depending on what you fill in with the P46 your tax will reduce, from what you have said you will not pay any. Tax already paid may be repaid immediately or when the tax office issue a code again depending on what you fill in on the P46.
Many employers now do the P46 return online so may have a form of their own for you to fill in.0
