Daughter going to S.America soon and wants a quad band cheap phone for emergencies.Carphone Warehouse have an Alcatel ot708 which claims to be a quad, but the stores say that its only dual band.Can anyone confirm whether this phone IS quad band and therefore be used in S.America. Any ideas on other CHEAP phones?

Looks like there's 2 versions of that phone 708 / 708a
But according to the carphone warehouse site it's Quad band so it can be used in the US.
What countries will she be visiting?

She's going to Brazil, Paraguay,Bolivia, Peru Equador and now the Galapagos. Mosy sites including Carphone warehouse call it a quad whereas the shop says it's dual band.I dont know what to think.can you suggest another phone? She has serious medical condition and wants to be able to contact us/hospital in emergency.Any advice please?0
