So a question for expierenced ebayers - Is selling dvd's on ebay a waste of time and money? This doesn't apply to boxsets or new films but you can buy second hand dvd's in online sites such as play.com for really cheap price like 75p and those shops such as cex sell second hand dvd's for a ridiculous low prices. It seems to me that ebay is a bit redundant when it comes to used dvds but I'm probably wrong - What do you guys think?

Plenty of people on Ebay are stupid and think that because its on Ebay, its automatically a bargain. Costs pennies to list so try a few.0

The only way to find out is to check completed listings, take off the fees and postage and see if it leaves you with a profit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I must admit that as a buyer they are not much use. Load of BIN's that are more expensive than Amazon.
The problem for selling DVD's one by one is the p&p. You need to charge a reasonable amount to avoid making a loss but with normal retailers people can batch up several DVD's to make the p&p charged viable. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
As a buyer, it's not my first choice for DVDs - I always go to Amazon for about 99% of my purchases. I do buy the very occasional DVD on Ebay but it'll be something that I couldn't find on Amazon (or couldn't find within my budget).0

Plenty of dvds do get sold on eBay everyday, so obviously there's a demand there. They dont sell for very much though - unless its a recent release.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0

I've sold a few lately but not many, I mainly go to Amazon for mine unless I can get it cheaper on Ebay (obviously)0

So it looks like your best bet is to compare prices between Ebay and Amazon and see which ones you can buy cheap on Ebay and sell for a good profit on Amazon.
Or maybe make up sets from different sellers' individual disks.0 -
I would get them photographed and list them all on the next free listing day. Probably will be another in a few weeks as they have done lots of them recently.
Good luck0 -
Second hand ones sell for buttons 99p plus 99p p+p. Glad I have got rid of them all now. New ones you will struggle with as most of the sellers are big companies an buy in bulk to get the discounts.Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0

They used to sell quite well but I was selling stuff like Porridge and Absolutely Fabulous rather than the average film. I sold a collection of vintage Basil Brush clips for £10 to Australia once.
I suspect series do better than films unless you have something like a collector's edition."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
