Easy Cap working (a feat in itself!) but no sound

After reading all the related posts i managesd to get my Easy Cap working. It only took 3 days:mad:.

However, the sound is virtually non existent. The sound is perfect if i play my tapes on the TV, just the Easy Cap is not picking it up. (I do get the "no signal or signal is unclear" message but I capture anyway as the picture is perfect. Reading the Easycap forum it seems everyone gets that message.

Does anyone know of any magic tricks? (My pc speakers are seperate and plug into the back of the desktop)

I can post pictures of my set up if it helps but basically I used a scart to 3 phono adapter that fit into the female phono leads on the easycap and have the switch set to output.

Sorry, I was refering to the adapter to transfer VHS to the PC and the forum I referred to is the EasyCap one itself. All advise concerning sound problems on there are for xbox users not VHS.

    So near yet so far....

Having trolled through luts of You Tube tutorials by 10 year olds to heavy metal soundtacks it looks like i need yet another cable. This one only costs a couple of quid though! (a 2x Female to 1 3.5mm Male RCA Cable). It is apparantly a spliiter to bypass my pc`s own speakers.

OMG my brain is going to explode.

I have sound, I have a picture, I have all my settings exactly as described in many many many online tutorials, unfortunatly what I also have is an incessant hum that I have spent the last few hours trying to get rid of.

I presume it is because my pc has seperate speakers that I had plugged in as well so I can hear what I am doing....SO I have unplugged them, plugged my audio jack into my main green socket and left if playing silently downstairs as I am also testing how long it will capture before finding an error. I swear I did this earlier and my playback was silent but as I said, my brain is about to explode:rotfl:
  • Stick headphones in the standard rear [ MOBO ] socket - no hum [ feedback ] - works ok ? Eliminate one at a time.

What do you mean your PC has separate speakers ? and are they powered or passive ?
