in Credit cards
I phoned barclaycard to try and do the shuffle that i saw on the website, from my capital one caard.
They said i am not eligable for this!? Anyone give me a reason why??
I am close to my limit on my barclaycard, but the woman just kept saying about a balance transfer not being available!?
HELP PLEASE!!!!!
I have got to get this interest down, as its 30% and killing me

I assume you meant you are NOT close to your limit on your Barclaycard, otherwise the reason why you can't definately do a balance transfer is because you don't have enough credit on the Barclaycard to do the transfer.
Even if you are not close to your limit, unfortunately a credit card issuer, does not have to offer a balance transfer to all customers.
Maybe they see you as a risk customer and are not willing to pay off your Capital One card as they feel your balance will be too high for you to cope with on your Barclaycard and they are not willing to risk it.
Or it could be something that might be available to you if you do the request via your online Barclaycard account. There has been posts before where customer service agents have not been able to offer a deal that is shown online.
If your credit rating is good/excellent you could try for a new credit card altogether and that way you could possibly transfer from both cards to a new card with 0%.0 -
so the 6.9% shuffle idea wont work?
Thought that was the point of how martins demo explained it!?
I do not have much left available on my barclaycard no, but the way it seemed they would be making more money from me, rather than capital one, even if its only at 6.9%?!
My credit rating comes up as fair, i havent missed anything payment wise, but i havent paid of my balance!
Moneysupermarket says i am unlikely to get a balance transfer card, although none of their suggested reasons why apply to me!?0 -
I saw the debt shuffle thing on the site last night, and couldn't wait to try it this morning!
But no-one could give me anything. I tried Tesco (card almost maxed out), Santander (card at about 75%), and Barclaycard (also at about 75%) - no missed payments but they are the minimum. So I cancelled them all.
Maybe it's just for people in a better financial situation than myself. Kick them when they're down and all that.
Still, some good has come out of it, I've found out I can cancel credit cards without having to pay off the balance immediately. 3 down, 1 to go (just waiting for some refunds on it first)0 -

Hi ads,
I too had this problem with Barclaycard a while back. I have 2 cards with them - one close to the limit, the other with plenty of credit on it.
I asked could I do a small balance transfer and they refused telling me exactly the same thing that I was not eligible. I thought this was strange so I hung up and rang back to try again with another advisor.
The next advisor told me that I had "no offers" on my cards at the time. I asked the operator if she could explain why I had "no offers" on my cards and she couldn't. I then spoke to a supervisor who said he would look into it for me and call me back and I wasn't surprised that the call never came.
Both cards are now cancelled until the balance is repaid because Barclaycard's customer service leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.
I do hope you have better luck though and manage to get the transfer you need.

Yes the shuffle idea works, providing the company you wish to shuffle to, will allow it. In this case Barclaycard are saying no to you.
As I said before they don't have to offer all customers the same benefits. Sometimes people get offers, others don't it depends on how they look at you as a credit worthy customer.
You are already near your limit. You can generally only shuffle/transfer upto a certain amount around 90-95% of your limit and a fee of around 3% is added to the amount you want to shuffle/transfer to the card.
If you are that close to your Barclaycard limit (say £100 - £200), you could well be already upto 85% of your card limit, therefore there is no room for you to transfer money to it.
If your credit rating is fair, then you are not likely to get another card to transfer too either, as balance transfer cards are usually only available to people with good/excellent credit ratings.
You really need to look at other ways to cut the debt down, maybe seek advice from the debt free wanabee boards on the forums.0 -
