Can anyone help me with this!
I have been claiming JSA CB and this has come to an end and I have a mortgage. I have been told to complete a form to claim JSA IB and my household will need to be assessed to see if I qualify for any. I have a wife and 2 children under 16, my wife works 20 hrs a week.
My wife's income covered the mortgage but when you factor in essential expenditure we have had to use our savings to ensure bills are paid. I have been told that £102 per week is the figure the Government say is acceptable to live on. Does that figure take in to account housing costs or is it an amount after bills have been paid and that figure is left for food?
How do they calculate if you are entitled to help with the mortgage and what is the criteria for JSA IB because this benefit is not guaranteed and can be refused. Does anyone know what essential expenditure they use to calculate the benefit if any?
Thanks for reading.

How much does your wife earn and how much are your savings and any other capital, such as ISAs and so forth? Household expenses, debts and so on, are irrelevant to the level of benefit awarded. Your mortgage and other household bills will not influence your entitlement.
