redundancy pay - deprivation of capital

Hi - My husband is just about to be made redundant with a payment approx £10K above his annual gross salary. How soon will he be paid CB JSA. Although still married, we are separated and live apart although we still hold a joint bank account, so will the whole or just half of his redundancy money be counted as his? Also, my husband still helps to financially support our two sons who are at Uni but living at home with me. He has helped our eldest son with purchase of laptop, uni material etc. He will want to do the same for youngest son (in first year at Uni). Will using his redundancy money to continue his help(purchase of laptop etc) and £20 pw towards their keep be counted as deprivation of capital. Any help would be appreciated
