AS Securi-T

A parking ticket was left on a car I own by a private company who claims to be a member of the BPA (AS Securi-T) for £70-if it is not paid the parking charge notice rises to £94 within 14 days. This seems extreme given what the council and police charge and also given that if you pay their fines they halve what is chargeable.
I am frightened not to pay despite reading all the other comments on this forum - and worried that they willl take me to court. How likely is that?

Just ignore, they won't take you to court. As for the BPA that means nothing. It's not an official regulator like OFCOM or OFGEM, it's just a trade association for the parking "industry". You have nothing to worry about.

Nothing to worry about at all, we have NEVER heard of this company going to Court. They just 'offer' retailers and landowners a 'free service' whereby the PPC is allowed to operate a practice akin to a protection racket in other company's car parks. A bit like the way parasites feed off other animals, so do PPCs feed off the back of REAL companies who actually provide a real service...

I googled them as I know the firm's been mentioned on lots of forums and never done Court. Here you go, happy reading. :D

Oh, and the Watchdog link for good measure, that should help you stop that worrying!

    A quote from their website.

"A.S. Securi-T car park solutions employs Private Car Park Wardens and the system is designed to operate in exactly the same way as the Traffic Wardens operate for the local authority."

  • Do we still have traffic wardens?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
