This is bound to be in the wrong place - I've no idea where it should go! However...
Background is that stepson has moved back to USA last year. He's young with no credit history and I signed up as guarantor on his apartment. Yes - I do know the pitfalls...:(
His second job was a summer one and when it came to an end he was short of cash. His building management company informed me his rent was late and I coughed up the shortfall.
He has decided to try to get a cheaper place and we've all had discussions. During these the company warned (not in a heavy way at all) that if the rent defaulted they would go to an attorney and then court. If eviction followed this would adversely affect both my stepson's and my credit rating. They were aware enough to add that they weren't sure how this would affect me in particular since I'm "out of state"!
Before I ask my question of you good people I'd like to say that we have everything under control; the landlord company and I are on great terms and I have absolutely no intention of defaulting on my contract. I may, however, choose to kill my stepson...
Question: I assume that the landlord company, or the Illinois courts maybe?, would update the US CRAs. The main CRA is Experian, the same company we know in the UK. Do the CRAs pass, and use, information internationally? <---- That was the question, by the way
P.S. I reiterate - I'm paying all the rent shortfalls on time and will continue to do so until the contract ends! And won't actually kill my stepson.
I think.
