    Update on OH's job...

After 2 interviews and nearly £150 in train fares later, the OH got the job in London! We've had a ruddy good chat and decided that he'll live with his sister in North London and commute to Greenwich for work then come home(Devon) on his days of. His rota is 5 days on, 4 days off so will work ok. He gets a pay rise of £8k+ possible £5k target related bonus. Also he gets free tickets to concerts...Im sure Take Thats playing at the O2 pretty soon...YAY!! :D In the meantime Im staying put here as its not the right time to take my sprog out of school and my baby is 3 years away from school so we're thinking of doing this for as long as possible until I can join him. I make money down here working from home(I have my own cake business) and Im so close to becoming a foster parent(only 1 month away out of a years training!!) and I would HATE to have to stop this as its something we've both wanted to do. If I moved to London I would have to go out to work, my baby would have to go to nursery full time and I'd be working just to pay the fee! We'd really struggle getting a good sized house for less than £1000pm and theres a reason why Im on this site; the OH has a lot of debt we have to manage.

So to sum up...I get the house to myself in the week and have to fight for the duvet again on the weekends!!! :D:D

Well done you - I'm wondering how long that took you to get as I hardly ever get a survey from them. You must be better criteria than me,lol!

nat21luv - Gosh, lots of big changes going on in your life! Hope everything works out well for you. Has your hubby investigated the journey from North London to Greenich yet? Would be a bonus if he could get Take That tickets!

Nat, well done on compromising. Although this is going to be hard on you, like you said, it works for your family situation at the moment. And GOOD LUCK with the foster caring. :)

Thanks guys xx We're both fully prepared for this, going into it with our eyes wide open! He knows he'll be working and travelling all the time and I know I'll be looking after 1-4 foster children +my 2 on my own...! I watched Wife Swap last night and there was a horrible woman who fed her young child crisps for breakfast and kept her house so dirty. The 'wife' who swapped with her took on her child and became so attached she decided to foster when she went back home. I cried! Just to help one child makes so much difference. I have a spare room with bunk beds(foreign students) but have been told to keep them by my social worker; they have siblings come into care and I would hate to split them up so potentially I could have 4 foster children at one time!! That includes a baby in a cot in my room, the bunk beds and the lower bunk in my sons room! I know its wrong and I cant stress enough this is not why Im fostering, but when your on this site all the time and the thought of having 4 foster children, I cant help but think of the money...!

  • Happy birthday Purple 21 again :D

Nat, congrats on OH's new job. Really pleased for you. Me and DH used to live apart and the weeks do fly by, I seamt to always be cleaning up ready for him coming home and then he'd be back home again. Good luck also with the fostering, I'd love to do something like that in the future when mine are a bit older.

    sweet x

Congrats Nat on the OHs job! PS - love your valentines cakes on fb, just sad I live too far away for delivery!

Wooppeeee free ebay listing :) last time I left it all until Sunday night and didn't get half the stuff I wanted on there, and sold next to nothing! This time I am fully prepared to start listing a 5pm tonight when OH goes to watch the footie, and I am aiming for a grand total of 100 things - luckily I have pictures all prepared for most of it, and can copy/paste some explanations. I have made all of about 84p this month so far, and stopped being careful with spending my hard earned dollar so lets see if we can bust this £279.16 before the month is out :)

Good luck my fellow ebayers :heart2::heart2::heart2:
