Hello to all newbies and regulars and welcome to another £10 a day challenge.

This challenge first started in September 2007, so this will be the 41st Month this challenge has been going. So thanks Batgirl for starting it and Aesop, JesaRose, Purpleroses and MizMir,who also keep the thread going.

I know this first post is long, but please read it as it gives tips and info on how this challenge works!

If you're new to the challenge don't be scared - here's how it works:

The aim of this challenge is to make £10 extra a day everyday for the month. A lot of people think this is impossible but it can and has been done (and in some cases some show offs have even doubled or tripled the monthly challenge).

If you feel £10 is too much why not start at £5 or if you're brave join those who aim for £20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money or saving money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

What cannot be added: wages from your main job
What can: overtime at work, income from a 2nd job, savings in shopping, daily clicks, sales, interest, vouchers, mystery shopping...the list is endless.

Feel free to add any extra money earned (above normal wages) or any money you saved when out shopping. For daily clicks and sites like quidco it's upto you when you add the money earnt there. Some add it when an amount tracks others when it's paid out - it's your challenge so it is upto you what you want to count and when you want to count it.

This board moves so fast so here's some ideas for people to make money. (click the links for some shortcuts to threads on each subject):

Amazon.co.uk, play.com, Green Metropolis - sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here. (Green met is for books only)

Ebay - a place to sell anything and everything. There is a whole board about ebay which gives you ideas, hints and tips about selling

Survey sites - I've found lightspeed now called my survey and p!nec0ne to be the best (p!nec0ne is hard to find but well worth trying to find it!) but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, ciao, harris poll, valuedopinions etc etc

Daily clicks - go to EagerLearners thread on this board and ask for her guide. Last I checked it could get you £1.50 per day. Although clicks take time to add up its worth it in the end if you have the time to spare.

Mystery shopping - Get paid to be a mystery shopper!

Up your income board - full of great ideas!

Sealed Pot Challenge 2011 - basically you put your change into a jar over the year so in December you should have a nice pot of money to help

Mobile phone to recycle? try Martin's mobile recycling comparison site first to see where you may get the best deal!

Music Magpie - have cds/dvds you haven't been able to sell at carboots or online. Try your luck here. Is you do sell your albums/dvds be sure to go via quidco to get a few more pennies

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Everyone is welcome - just post your target, update your signature and get going. If you have any questions just ask here and someone will help.

Challenge starts February 1st - £10 a day this month will be £280...

Good luck all :D

Well I've never joined before so why not give it a go...

I don't think I can do £10 a day but will aim for the £280 total anyway. xx
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...
  • Sorry I will not be joining - this is not going to do me any good because I will strive to save£10 by spending extra money and buying bargains that I don't actually need. But good luck everyone.
Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 2016
  • I'm in again - I did well in jan, but only cause I sold my camera lens on ebay.

Please put me down for £5 a day as I'm out of the country from the 20th! :D

I'm in :) £10 a day, please. Does anyone keep a diary or spreadsheet of their money making? I started one but lost momentum because I realised to make it actual I had to include so many different %s to take into account ebay and paypal fees! Got in a tizz what with working full time and being mummy, also I love my sleep far too much!!

    Good luck everyone.

I list all the money I make in excel and then total it at the bottom. Someone on the eBay money making thread made a spreadsheet for working out profits after fees etc. They were sharing it via Google Docs if you need it MooBag

Ooh, yes please! I've not joined in for ages. I think I'm going to go for £5 per day as I don't have much spare time for ebaying and think I need to rejoin the mystery shopping etc as I've not had anything for ages.
  • Wow onto feb already!!

Thanks for taking us on Sweetpeas

    Best of luck everyone!!

Aiming for at least £10 A DAY ~ and will be keeping track of where it goes from here on in !

I would like to try £10 a day for February please.

I managed to do really well for January - hopefully haven't peaked too soon. I have got some student rent to come first week of Feb, so that will give a good boost to my total.

    Good luck to everyone!

I am finding this challenge brilliant for keeping me focused, and enjoy reading how everyone's making their money. :)
