If you claimed 20 years ago the claim would have been paid in full and final settlement, you cant have a second bite of the cherry now because someone else got a diffrent outcome that you did, you accepted what was offered at the time and must have signed for it happily or you would have desputed the claim then.

I would love to be able to chat to people and hear their replies, be thankful you still can.

sunnyone i am so very sorry for not making my point more clear .
As you say I did indeed have to sign a form in full and final settlement of my claim but it is also a fact that I can claim a pension of the state so long as I meet the required standard .

If you mean an industrial injury pension, you cant because you would need to be assessed at the time and not 20 years later since hearing loss is a common sign of ageing.

You MIGHT be able to claim DLA, but only if your deafness prevents you doing things, eg going out alone.

Might I suggest that the RNID would have information and advice on their website?

  • There may be some information on this industrial deafness site which may be of help to you... Seems pretty relevant.
