I don't think the thread is a wind-up - there are some of us who wouldnt know how to wind people up if we wanted to. I can understand why people who have "going in for wind-ups" as a hobby of theirs might think this - but I think the thread is genuine.
Go on then.
Fill us doubters in to why you think this thread is genuine. Not Again0 -
There ARE workplaces where such horseplay goes on - I can think of two types of workplace where this is prevalent straight away. One is in the City (in which case O.P. wouldnt be on here anyway - because they earn so much that they wouldnt even blink at the cost of a pair of glasses - even if they were designer ones).
The other one I've heard of - well - I'm wondering if thats where O.P. works and some of the people working for that employer earn so little that they WOULD be concerned about the cost of a pair of glasses.
So - more "unconventional" workplaces DO exist - and O.P. is accordingly in this situation.
I agree.
There was a thread on here last year where a guy got injured in a similar workplace situation (I have tried to find the thread).
The manager knew of the situation and just allowed horseplay to continue.
Some people could suggest that those who are doubting whether this is a genuine situation may have had a sheltered working career.
In the real world however, this behaviour does go on, I know this for a fact and you will usually find it where there are a lot of young people working.
Horseplay can be relatively minor like flicking elastic bands at each other or to something more serious like racing each other in a stockyard with 15ton fork trucks - I have seen both!0 -
If someone started flicking elastic bands at me in the workplace I would view it very dimly.~*~ If you don't need it, it isn't a bargain ~*~0
