You are going to make your child do papers at home? :eek:They get enough of that at school and at that age why add to the pressure? It might only artificially boost their levels and then they won't get the right level of work when they go onto KS2.

Oh please...let your child be a child!!! At that very young age you shouldn't be thinking about trying to prepare them for exams. The exams should be seen as a test of the school, not the child. Kids these days have enough they have to conform to as they get older....to do that to little ones is totally unnecessary. At my sons' primary school the kids didn't even know they were sitting tests at KS1 - to them it was just doing exercises in class. They weren't told which test was on which day and only after they were all done were the parents told that their kids had done SATs tests. I am very pro-school, my eldest has just started uni, my 16yr old is going to take GCSEs this year and then do A levels, and I've always been very firm on them doing their work properly and school attendance was high priority for me. But don't be so pushy you force them to cram for things at that young...you and your child should both be enjoying their childhood now

You do realise that the KS1 sats are for the benefit of the school, not the children don't you? Exams at this are are totally unnecessary and will have not one iota of impact on their future education.

If all parents cram their young children with practice papers poor teaching will not be highlighted, the skewed results will show that the teachers and school are doing a wonderful job where infact they may not be.

As said above, let your child be a child.

Don't assume this is a parent of a Year 2 child. It could be this is a trainee teacher looking at past papers, or someone doing study about pointless examinations, or something like that.

I TRULY hope it is not a parent trying to get some practice papers in...

If that's the case, sorry OP...just I used to take my son to a gymbobs class when he was little, in a rather posh town...never saw the mums, only the nannies and au pairs with the kids and one week most of them were missing due to having got tutors in to prepare them for their KS1 tests. I felt so sorry for the kids missing their fun for that. Hope OP had nicer motives
