no thunderbird icon

I installed mozilla thunderbird but got no desktop icon so I uninstalled and did it again but still no desktop icon---whats going wrong??

Is there an option during the installation routine to have a desktop icon? Was it selected?
You could always create your own shortcut to the program on your desktop.Charlie0 -

There was no option for an icon--I know I can create a shortcut ,but I expected that to be sorted.:D0
