Redundancy & pregnancy/maternity.

Hi,

Could someone please tell me where I stand on the issue of redundancy while Im pregnant? Or on mat leave? Am I better being on mat leave when my post is made redundant or not? (I can take early mat leave?) Im 20wks pregnant am likely to be made redundant at 27/28 weeks & have worked for my employer for just over 2 years.

Thanks x

  • You'll get your matenity pay as long as you are employed in the qualifying week (15 weeks before you are due). I don't think that being on Mat leave would change your package at all, but I also wouldn't go on early maternity leave unless you medically need to do so as you should get your normal pay until you go on leave, then have 39 weeks mat pay.
