selling a diamond ring on ebay

I have a solitare diamond ring i wish to sell and wondered how to go about it. There seems to be a lot on ebay but mainly from professional jewellers. Its valued at £1800, we were offered £450 from a local jeweller last year but now says the demand is not as great. Any ideas would be much appreciated as the old xmas fund is looking a bit skinny.

I doubt you will get anything like £450 on EBay unless you have a certificate stating the size, purity and clarity of the stone. I would ask a jeweller to sell it on sale or return if I were you, if you just don't fancy selling it direct to the jeweller.0

Or try a real auction and talk to the auctioneer about a suitable reserve.

That's funny, I caught a bit of the Antiques Roadshow, where a woman had a diamond brooch and necklace, and the expert was saying there was a great demand for diamonds! Of course, I don't know when that was recorded - it may have been a repeat.Charlie0
