This left me with a dilemma; ever since the site started I’ve kept people up-to-date with how many are on the list and how the site’s grown - so to suddenly be 50,000 short is a problem. Thus I came up with the official number which is ‘how many people have opted to get the e-mail and not unsubscribed from the list’ and currently stands at 750,000. The real number which is ‘how many e-mails we send’ is now about 67,000 less.
That's the way they present unemployment figures isn't it?
And calculate the crime rate?
And justify not giving us a referendum on whether we actually want them to spend billions on I.D. cards?
And...Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
The UK adult population is probably about 50 million, so lets say 45 million have access to the internet. 750,000 is 1.7% of the available audience. 98.3% are missing out and being ripped off! I must mix with an unrepresentative sample of the population because everyone I know gets it

I've signed up 3 times, each time I changed my 'main' e-mail address ... not in a deliberate attempt to waste your resources but because I just didn't want to miss out when my jobs changed, my emails changed and when remembering to cancel the old 'account' just wasn't at the top of my to do list. I expect that there are a few others like me who are part of the problem
Thanks for bearing with us though!0 -

I think you are being a bit unkind to assume their letting themselves be ripped off.
They must be dead, cos nobody with breath left in their body can afford to miss out on this site. It's a real life/money saver0 -
Not accurate as I have 2 different emails subscribed to this list.

The four of us in the office all get the email. However whereas the other 3 get theres in the morning and I get mine in the evening so miss out on the discussions about the articles in the day! I'm the biggest advocate too and got them to sign up!
Anyway, where is the site in the top websites list these days? ISTR that a year or so ago it was climbing fast, so I wonder where its at now.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -
Sorry HIT, we do actually vary the list send, to try and stop that, but it depends on many things - its not deliberate, I promise

HIT, why don't you just view the email via the link in the top left of the website on a Wednesday morning? I can never wait for the email
