Maternity Pay

Hi,

My wife is pregnant and due to give birth in the middle of August. She is currently employed but on a contract basis which finishes on the 3rd May. Regarding maternity pay will she get any if she does not get another job from then until the baby arrives?

she should get maternity allowance if she was earning enough before she conceived and works up to May

Hi Claire,

Many thanks for the reply – I did have a quick look at this and hoped that would be the case. Reading through it the min amount is about £100 a week. She does earn this and would I be right in believing the amount she would get it the same as statutory maternity pay except for she will not get the first 6 weeks at 90%?

Reading more into it my wife finishes work on the 3rd May and the baby is due 19th August. This means that she is about 4 days over the 15 week qualifying period if my maths is correct

She was hoping to get a new job when the correct one finishes but we are just concerned about whether she would get a job being 6 months pregnant....
