Ferry & Train from Dublin
Hi everyone.
Looking to go from Dublin to Peterborough (combination of ferry and train).
Dont really want to fly as it is easier for me to get transport home, when i arrive in Peterborough.
Which companies and so forth offer Dublin to Peterborough, that take care of the ferry and train bookings at the same time. I have tried raileasy but they dont seem to have any routes available according to their website.
7th February from Dublin to Peterborough, doesnt matter what time, can be as early as possible.
If anyone knows of any companies, etc... that'd be great.
Thank you.

All the UK rail websites only deal with UK trains - so they don't cover Irish trains or ferries
What you need is Sailrail
But flying to Stansted and getting the train to Peterborough is much more sensible0 -

The Southern Railway website (and possibly others) give a fare of £33.00 single on your date.
Includes bus from Dublin city to port, Stenna ferry to Holyhead, then train to Peterborough changing at Nuneaton.0 -
This isn't quite right.

This is true, you have always been able to purchase tickets to Ireland, they used to be called Economy tickets but under the simplification then became off peak tickets.
Here is my post from the other topic you also posted this inAccording to National Rail Enquiries
Dep Dublin Connolly 2035 SUNDAY 06 FEB
Arr Dublin Port - Stena 2115
FERRY TO HOLYHEAD
Arr Holyhead 0030
Long wait here of 4 hours 18 minutes
Dep Holyhead 0448 MONDAY 7 FEB
Arr Nuneaton 0732
Dep Nuneaton 0751
Arr Peterbro 0916
Off Peak Single £33. It doesn't list a return price to see if it is only slightly more incase a return back with in the month is possible.
There are other journeys but no fare is shown and also on-line booking engines aren't recognising Dublin even though through ticketing is available with the ferry.
My tip is go to the local station and ask for this 1, the ticket used to be called an Economy Single if it helps (ticket code ECS).
This ticket includes ferry travel between Dublin and Holyhead.
Are you sure flying Dublin-Stansted isn't an option
Flights with Ryanair are available at (inc taxes and online checking in)
Dep Arr Fare
0625-0745-€27.99 (1 seat left) (at todays exch rate £24.12)
0810-0925-€27.99 (number left) (at todays exch rate £24.12)
1130-1245-€35.99 (number left) (at todays exch rate £31.01)

2155-2305-€20.99 (number left) (at todays exch rate £18.09)
I'm unsure if these are any other Ryanair extras to add though.
Standard Advance singles available Stansted Airport-Peterborough as follows
Dep -Arr -Fare
1021-1150-£7.50
1125-1250-£6
1225-1350-£7
1325-1450-£7.50
1821-1950-£6
1921-2050-£6
2021-2150-£6
First Class advance on the above are £17.50.
Any other service will be £18 Anytime Single via Not London.
So for the time saving and not much extra expense flying may be an option.0 -
Thanks a lot for the replies!
Much appreciated.
Thank you for the information.0 -
Just to add to all the excellent info above, the all in one ferry/rail ticket is very easy to find and buy on the Virgin Trains Website, best search is 'Dublin Port(Stena)' and set the depart time as 04:00 gives you 3 options 2@08:20 arriving Peterborough at different times or 21:15 arriving 09:16 with a long wait at Holyhead in the small hours of the morning all are priced at £32.
But the economy Single can be used on any permitted route and train from Holyhead to Peterborough and not just the ones dictated by the search engine, only ship reservations are mandatory for that ticket.
Edit: If you want to use Irish Ferry instead of Stena, then it seems you can't get a direct fare, strange. So you have to split ie 'Dublin Port(Irish Ferries) to Nuneaton, Nuneaton to Peterborough.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
