Well the legal bit is that you have to have 15 clear working days between giving notice and the day of the wedding.
However the sooner the better so that you can secure the registrar for your date!
Hope that helps.:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -
Thanks Miss Coupon. The registrar has been booked, and the deposit paid, so that should secure my date?? We have a letter at home, I will have to read it tonight.
I hope that has secured our date/time, otherwise I think I will cry!!!Got enagaged 2nd May 2010

Don't panic as long as you give notice 15 days or more before your wedding day it's fine

Didn't want to panic you, it's just that when I gave notice and paid the notice fee, I was told that doing so 'inked in' our wedding.I hope that has secured our date/time, otherwise I think I will cry!!!
We are getting married in a register office so maybe the process is different for you (regarding securing the date I mean).:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -
When I phoned to enquire the date for our registry office, I booked it and she said they liked you to go in within 14 days of the booking to give notice which we did a week later, after which the banns are put up.
I would give them a ring to confirm x0 -
We had to give notice 12 months before our date to confirm the booking of the registrar.0

Same thing with us. We booked the registrar and paid the deposit and then we had to go and give notice within 14 days in order for the booking to be confirmed. I suggest you give them a call and find out.0 -
We were pencilled in for a fortnight then had to go within that time to actually give notice, or they could have give the date and time to someone else.
I know you said you have paid a deposit, but that might have been just to hold the date/time for X amount of time.
Get onto them ASAP and find out.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
We couldnt give notice when I paid the deposit as it was more than a year before we were due to get married.

Thanks anyway - will let you know how I get onGot enagaged 2nd May 2010

They should have told you to book an appointment as soon as it was 12 months in advance.
Good luck with the phone call, hopefully it will be good news!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
