    Great plan - refuse to give details at the scene quoting RTA1988, the other driver reports it to their insurers who repair the vehicle and seek reimbursement from your insurers, your insurers say "accident? what accident?" investigate and withdraw indemnity due to failure to notify, then you are left with the whole bill for the claim and have had your insurance cover refused which will make future cover hard to get.

    Why the heck not just do the decent thing, provide insurance details as requested and tell your insurers that you wish to deal with the claim without involving them. No terms and conditions breached and everyone happy.

    If you suspect the claim is a fraud or LSI then tell your insurers they all have mechanisms for dealing with these cases.

    If you re-read my post (#5) you will note that I actually advised the OP to advise his insurers who by default will contact the TP.

    I was involved in a i fraudulant claim a few years ago and while it was being investigated, my premium came up for re-new and it had shot up by £400 because of the claim. I had to find that additional money and wait a good few months to get it sorted which took many phone calls and letters. By the way, the TP transpired to have no insurance and used a accident claim co. These things can be more complicated than you think!
