Separation and re-mortgaging Legal

I am looking for some advice on re-mortgaging due to separating from my wife. We have agreed that I will re-mortgage and buy her out of the mortgage, with me giving her 50% of the equity on the house.
This is all fine – I’ve seen mortgage deals that would suit and I am ready to apply. What I need to know is how I protect myself legally…? Do I need a solicitor to draw up some sort of contract between us? The title deeds are already solely in my name but my concern is that further down line, when we divorce, that I am somehow made to pay again…?
Thanks !
