British Gas - Corporate Discount

Has anyone ever had a phone call from British Gas telling them they could get a corporate discount? I had one last night telling me because I'd recently switched away from them and because I was in the Midlands, they were doing an offer where they were offering a corporate discount of 4% to me if I switched back and then started to baffle me with numbers about how they would always be cheaper than EDF once they put prices up.

I just said I wasn't interested in switching and that was it. Very strange tactic that I've never heard of before. Anyone else come across this?

But corporate discount of 4% to what?
4% of the standard tariff does not sound very tempting when the online discount tariff usually offers about a 6% saving.
Just sounds like another cold calling tactic to confuse people.

    Only 4%

If it was a local office I think 4% might appeal. Or around 8% for an area office. Maybe 12% for a special head office but for a Corporate Discount you should be able to name your price.

Did you tell them to stick it down the Executive Lavatory? :D
  • They will be offered BG 4% Discount Tracker. It is the cheapest deal sales agents are allowed to sell in the call centres. Websaver is still the cheapest BG tariff on offer at the moment.

I have asked NPower this as well. Why do they ring you up to offer something that isn't even their own cheapest offer?

    It's farcisal.
