Estimating Software

Hi, does anyone have any ideas for estimating software.

Or any spreadsheets that will assist me, I am a SME in construction and need a procedure to ensure all my overheads are recovered.

  • Hi,

Have you tried https://www.simtel .com. This site has freeware ,shareware etc. Look in the business section , type in estimating in the search box. There are some good zip files there.

I wouldnt bother with a package to be honest - they are overpriced and tend to be inflexible. Set up a spreadsheet model where you can enter the inputs, that will pick up all your requirements and spit out a cost. An estimating software package will only do the same - the hard part is in deciding what the rates should be rather than doing the computation.
