Tax Credit Woman Confused Me

Our income has dropped £240 a week since Dec 31st and our tax credits have gone down, I have just rung the helpline and the woman was quite rude to me as I rang the other day asking about an extra payment I got, anyway she said there is a new award notice coming out and our tax credits hav gone up and we have also been awarded WTC as well, I dont get that as I dont work as I am a carer and my hubby lost his job on Dec 31st ouronly income is my Carers allowance so why will we now get WTC?

You should have put in a claim for joint income support, you are not entitled to wtc, I take it you claim carers allowance?0

My husband is 61 and in bad health so hehas applied fo pension credit we were advised to do that and yes I claim Carers allowance, you would think the tax credit people would know what they are doing but it seems they dont0

The WTC is could be because your husband has worked only part of the tax year. After April you may not receive it.0

Ah right thanks, many years ago they gave us WTC and then claimed it all back as what they had done was put my husbands name, NINO and hours worked on the forms but then someone in the tax redit office had ommitted to put his earnings, I kept ringing and ringing to tell them it must be wrong and they kept saying it was all ok, then the following year tey realised their mistake and clawed it all back from us, I would hae to be in that situation again0
