from your clarification post, this is now redundant. the 802.11b and 802.11g refer to the spec of the wifi, roughly translates to b - 11Mb/s, g - 54Mb/s data rates. Most routers can be set to transmit on b standard, g standard, or mixed b/g which means they operate on both b and g standard at the same time, so you could use a lappy with either standard wifi card fitted. However, if the router was only set to use g only, and the lappy's wifi card was a b standard, it wouldn't be able to connect......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
