i then get a final bill for my electricity in october 2010 being over £500 i phone them up and they couldnt find out why any way after several long phone calls later i find out that there was a dispute with my start meter reading between Eon and my previous supplier!!
this was only resolve in august 2010!!!
i want to no if any1 else has had this problem and how it was resolved????

words to ponder on. 'I thought'make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Sorry, deleted old post as I see it was a change of your supplier. That's even easier
The start reading with Eon should be the same as the end reading with the previous supplier. Was it?
If not, you should have spotted that at the time. Anyway, you'll end up owing one supplier for the usage, and I doubt the difference in cost between them is worth arguing about.
If they were, then simply send proof to Eon of the end reading you were charged up to by the previous supplier and ask them to cancel the extra charges now applied."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
You didn't notice in over a year that your bills contained nothing about electricity?
EON send out combined bills for gas and electricity, you might only be liable for 12 months backbilling for electricity, it depends if a combined bill that doesn't charge for electricity counts as 'sending an electricity bill'0 -
I think they can, and I'd suspect your bills say something about the subject.
I've got an ongoing problem from when I was with first:utility. They've never charged me for gas in the year I was with them, because they can't agree on the start meter reading with British Gas. I moved to Scottish Power a few months ago, and I'm paying for gas again now, but I know there is still a year's worth of gas bills that will at some point have to be paid.
But every bill I had said 'awaiting industry data' in big letters where the gas statement should be. I've spoken to First Utility 4 or 5 times and given up on getting them to do anything. If I'm lucky, the amount will disappear permanently, but otherwise I'll not bother pushing them to send me the bill.0 -
Live and learn.
It seems common practice for the prior supplier to try it on by "estimating" the meter reading in their favour. The meter reader then couldn't input the next reading, as it is less than the transfer reading. Unfortunately, if you don't get any meter reader visiting, the fraud is not discovered for ages.
So it is vital to take your own readings0 -
Hi ljjinksy,
Just a couple of questions to try and establish what has happened here.
It sounds like there was an agreed read dispute going on, this is when the meter readings from the previous supplier and new supplier are disputed.
If this was the case, you would also be waiting for your final bill from the previous supplier and this won't have been produced until the dispute was resolved, was this the case?
How much were you paying for your Direct Debit?
Did you receive your bills?
Did you provide your final gas and electricity readings when you moved out and have these been used on the October final bill?
As I can't see any specific details I am only speculating what may have happened, so sorry if I’m on the wrong lines.
I would talk to E.ON, they may be able to offer you a payment arrangement to help you clear the balance.
Sorry for all the questions

hi
thanks all!!!
i was paying a set amount of £68.00 per month then it dropped to £53.00. the person who dropped the direct debit didnt go into my account properly and failed to inform me that i was not paying for my electric.
i was on an online tariff so had bills sent to me by email.
i thought the bills were combined and wondered why i was in credit and asked but he just dropped the amount! i recieved my final bill from my previous supplier in june 2009.
when i moved out i provided the final meter readings for my electricity and gas!! They have used them in the october final bill!!
all i cant understand is why no one informed me that i was not paying for my electricity?????!!!!! i had no idea it says nothing on the bills!!!0 -
i did do all my own meter readings and sent them in but they have no record of this either!!!0
