had the quotes for insurance today
from £331 for a year to £660 - £700
the car would still be less powerful than a 2.0 TDCI Mondeo
I cannot believe this, how do they work that out?0 -
Your now classed as a boy racer, They expect you to thrash and crash.
Dot forget the hoody and baseball cap to be worn at the same time, Turn the stereo to full volume
and increase the bass to max so music stops coming from teh speakers and they just make a nasty
buzzing sound.
Ooops nearly forgot, Dont forget to recline your drivers seat, Stop just before you doze off but you
must not be able to reach the steering wheel.
Insurance is just mad, Its used to be cheaper to insure a group 16 (old 20 group system) 2.5L 170bhp 24valve 150mph
car than a 105bhp 8valve 1.6L which couldnt do 120mph.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I'm going to look into going into the insurance business, I'll make a fortune ripping hardworking honest people off and then I'll be able to afford the premiums:rotfl:0

For clarification, he didnt buy the car new, he bought it at a year old and has owned it 5-6 months.0 -
How long is the finance period? Hopefully only 3 years or less.
Financially the only sensible course is to keep it as it is and accept that it wasn't quite the car you wanted.0 -

I just hate to compromise but it doesn't look like I have a choice.
I'll give it some serious thought but it doesn't look viable to me to modify it so I'll keep it for another 12 months and save up a bit of a deposit and then get what I want.
thankyou to everyone for their help it was an interesting exercise with a frustrating outcome but you lives and you learns
I'll try and get it right next time.0 -
Re: insurance. I find this depends a lot on the company you use. While a remap might be worth doing if you can renew with a mod friendly insurance company for similar next time, I'd say you main issue with the car is noise and this could be quite a cheap fix. I'd get something like dynamat (or cheaper alternative) fitted first, no need to declare IIRC0
