After a bit of a wrangle, I have had a £750 refund paid into my tesco credit card which is great:beer:.
Problem is, it arrived about 2 days after that statement month ended, so they are asking me to pay e.g. £1000 which but would it be ok to deduct the £750 and just pay the outstanding £250 on this months statement, now or do I have to wait till next months statement to benefit from my refund?

Phone and ask, they all handle this situation differently. Are you paying off in full ?

Yeah I always pay in full but didnt like the idea of overpaying £750 if you see what I mean.
Was going to phone but thought would ask here first and see if there was a standard answer.
So looks like I have to phone after all:(.
  • What you can't do is count a refund as a payment when paying only the minimum due.

The £250 you're still paying is bound to be more than the min due, so they won't be any problems there. I would hope that by paying the £250, you will be clearing the account by the due by date, so there won't be any interest. I've certainly done this a few times with other cards in the past without a problem. Only on this forum did I read that people were getting caught for interest.

So I think you have to call them and hope you get through to someone that will understand the question! (Get a name if you intend to rely on the answer....)
  • As long as your min payment is under £250! then it will be fine and no interest will be charged as you have untill the payment due date to pay in full

I would agree, as long as you pay in full, every month, and the entire balance is clear by the due date then fine, just be careful if you are on DD, may still collect, ring and confirm they can adjust it if you are
