What are we entitled to?

Hi there

I currently live with my partner in rented accomodation and we have our first child on the way (12 weeks to go). I work full time and earn £16000 per year, my partner doesn't work or claim any benefits. We have struggled up to now and with another mouth to feed on the way we are probably going to struggle even more. So I would just like to know what we are or are not entitled to.

Many Thanks

Put your details into https://www.turn2us.entitledto.co.uk/entitlementcalculator.aspx as if your child was already born and it will give an estimate as to what you would be entitled to. Amounts will change slightly from april as the new governments benefits shake up starts to take effect.

Is he a student? If so, does he get any grants or access to student loans?

If you are in private rented accommodation, you can identify the maximum LHA payable for a 2 bedroom property in your area on the LHA Direct website and the Turn2us calculator will identify if any is payable after your income has been taken into account.
