Hi
I'm getting married in Jamaica in May and the travel agent has informed us we need a 'single status declaration form'.
I contacted the local registrar and they can provide the form for us £33.50 per person.
Does anyone know if I can get this done cheaper anywhere? I've tried local solicitors and I'm awaiting their cost....
Thanks
Robin

I got married in the Caribbean. I needed a statutory declaration (the outline of which is below - but the actual wording to fill into the body of the form needs to come from your travel company). It cost me £5 for a solicitor to witness it (and the price is still £5 for a statutory declaration). The wording of the form itself is something like this: NB: if you want the solicitor to prepare the form AND witness it, it will be more than £5.
Statutory Declarations Act 1835
I (name) of (address) do solemnly and sincerely declare that:
(Specify the matter to be declared) - ie the bit about being single [exact wording should be supplied by your travel company]
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declarations Act 1835.
Dated the (date) (Signature of the person making the declaration)
Declared before me (Signature of the Solicitor)
(Solicitor should also date, and put address).0 -
Local solicitor did both of ours think it was about £10 each0
