Money sitting in Scottish power account - how do I get it back?

Hi,
I'm about to switch supplier using this site and checked how much I am in credit with my supplier. I have almost £300 of credit with Scottish Power. What is the best way to get this back? Will my new supplier chase the money for me, or do I do nothing and Scottish Power will credit my account when I leave them? Or do I ring Scottish Power before I switch and get them to pay it into my bank account. - I'm not sure how long this process will take, and don't want to hang around whilst prices are rising. Help
Thanks in Advance

When SP send your final bill after the switch is complete, it will show any overall credit due and you will receive a cheque or a reverse DD payment. Nothing to do with your new supplier-the debt or credit is not transferrable!
If the current bill or statement is based on estimated readings, then you may find in 6 weeks or so when you have switched that your credit is much reduced.

I can't see any mention of a recent bill, the credit may only be showing because a bil has not been produced for sometime.

In any event this would be sorted when you change over. Just ensure readings are given to avoid estimates.

    Hi orangeplasticspoon

You have a couple of options available to you.

    1. Contact us with your current meter readings and arrange for your account to be billed up to date and all credit returned to you.
    2. Leave the credit on the account and have this returned to you by cheque when your account is closed following your transfer to another company.

It will take around 10 working days for you to receive the cheque once this has been processed.

    Kind Regards
