Electricity (kWh)

Gas (kWh)
  • Bill period: 23/12/10 - 21/01/11
  • Number of days: 30
  • Total Daily Elec: 216
  • Average: 7
  • Total Daily Gas: 465
  • Average: 16
Charged: £20.23
  • Bill period: 19/11/10 - 22/12/10
  • Number of days: 34
  • Total Daily Elec: 214
  • Average: 6
  • Total Daily Gas: 3255
  • Average: 96
Charged: £120.25

Not sure if this is right or not but i think i have been over charged, could someone give me some advice please.

Why do you think you have been overcharged? Are your meter reading actual or estimates?

It looks like a meaningless lump of numbers to me, can you lay it out better ?

Can you just post the kWh total for each fuel? It's meaningless as set out at present. It's not even clear which figures apply to which fuel. 3 date periods, 2 fuels?

Looking at the preview of the thread (hovering over the thread title on the board) gets a bit better layout, but it still seems meaningless to me (apart from dates and no of days)
We'd need unit charges (don't seem included) and units consumed at least.
Ideally we need all the other details of the tariff too - like standing charges, discounts, etc.

As glider3560 asks, why do you think it's wrong? Will guide us in the right direction.

Edit: Think I get it a bit more.
    dates
    number of days covered
    units used (?)
    average per day (not important)
No idea what last number is.??? Or is it 2 numbers?

Edit 2: Doesn't work for the last date/set of date - presumably this is the gas figures?

Their actual meter reading. But the charges are for the gas only which seem to be wrong.

From the 19th of november to 22 december the average is 6x what it was in december to january.
And november to december the tenant wasn't staying their for 2 weeks.

Thanks for the revised layout :)

Details of the tariff would help, but without that the charges for 19/11/10 - 22/12/10 seem about right

But the charges for 22/01/11 - 25/01/11 seem too high (unless possibly there's a daily standing charge to pay - no it would still be wrong as standing charge would need to be about £2.50 per day )

Can't say for period 23/12/10 - 21/01/11 as no charge amount given.

Are you sure the charges are just for gas? As the detail is there for electric (but gas is the major cost in 19/11/10 - 22/12/10; the cost of electric is tiny by comparison so may or may not be included)

Edit: the above is costs assuming usage is correct.
For usage, is this based on actual meter readings or estimated readings?
If actual, when the tenant wasn't there, maybe they left the heating on full whack 24/7 to prevent the place freezing up? No heating at all for 2 weeks during that period, esp. if during the cold snap, would certainly have caused frost damage especially where you are located.

Edit 2: you've changed the numbers! Now the period 19/11/10 - 22/12/10 is charged about the right amount (assuming the consumption is correct). I think the cost covers gas & electric.

"is only gas usage, the electricity is an additional 34 quid on each, but what really has me stumped is the 19/11/2010 till 22/12/2010 period of 34 days costs more than the period of 23/12/2010 till 21/1/2011 period of 30 days is 6 times the actual gas price for the 30 day period"

When the tenant wasn't staying their the gas was fully turned off.
