Hi again, have been out for the morning & when I got back home there was a message on the phone from Halifax Credit Card Services saying that I had to contact them straight away & as soon as possible !. I think they may of got my Letter, SOA & what I can pay then each month. I’m afraid to contact them as the person on the phone sounded very official/abrupt & she is going to tell me the offer that I’ve made is un excitable !
Should I ring them back or wait until they call again.

    Hi

Do not ring them back. it may be time to send a telephone letter.

Did you include your CCCS number in the letter you sent Halifax?

I would only communicate with any of these companies in writing from now on..I have found that phone calls can be lost or ignored etc. I now do nothing without it being in writing as that way should it go to court I can show the proof and defend my point.

I don't have a home number anymore and it is bliss..Will not last long as the house goes in about a month but it has been a very peaceful month with no calls..Although I am missing having someone to shout at but that it totally a personal thing

Hi RAS, I sent them a template made up by the CCCS explaining why I wasn’t able to make payments, who it was from, who too & how much I could pay each month, also sent with this was SOA & My Financial Situation on separate sheets all with a “Header” with the CCCS Logo.

Hi Tottonian, remember what i said about changing your bank account, make sure that you have a bank account where you do not have any debts (get a basic account with no overdraft but with a debit card, i got funny looks on my application as they wanted to give me a normal account! i assured them i wouldnt be able to have one and sure enough failed the application, at this stage my accounts were up to date but i was overcommitted!), you dont want to get paid and have your account cleared out to clear any debtgs with your bank and not be able to pay the essentials, as the consequences of no home/gas/electric are much worse than not being able to pay credit cards, i will keep you posted on how i am getting on as i am slightly further down the line than you are. good luck.

I swapped Banks around 18 days ago form Un-helpful HSBS  to Santander, been double checking every day to make sure d/d are not going out to c/c companies as I did not included them when swapping everything over, I even phoned my payroll Monday to double check they had the new Bank Details as we get paid on the 10th of each month, think once I’ve had my wages paid in once to my new account I will feel a little happier.:)
  • Hi Tottonian, I haven't read through all of the comments made since i last popped on, But can see you've started down the route of doing your own DMP, good luck with it, I personally went with CCCS setting it all up for me as I really couldn't be doing with anymore stress from creditors to be honest. I'm suffering with depression at the moment although is under control with tablets. But i just felt one too many phone calls/letters would tip me back over the edge again! I start my DMP next month and haven't heard from any creditors yet so have no idea whether or not they have agreed to freeze interest or not! It really is a bumpy ride this debt-busting lol. But i wish you well and hope it's all set up for you soon :)

Hi Debtfreewannabe321,sorry didn’t get back sooner but it was my 2 nights on & just finished. Its nice to hear others in the same boat & all the help from others been there, I know what you mean about the medication as I started mine back in Oct 2010, still on them & can see things so much clearer, sad thing is it’s a little to clear & now facing up to what Sxxt I’m in:(. I intend to pay back but need to do it in such a way it doesn’t make me go over the edge. I have had 7 phone calls from c/c companies since Tuesday this week & 8 letters wanting me to contact them. Really don’t know what to do at the moment as still unsure what to do (apart from me making them offers I can afford a month), would like to think I can set up a DMP soon once I’ve heard back from all c/c companies & HSBC,
    Thanks Tottonian
  • If you're also dealing with a lot of stress & also depression why don't you let the CCCS sort it out for you. I have found them so helpful, I have sent out letters to the creditors (the template that they provided, maybe the same one you used) and they have contacted all the companies for me sending them a SOA & offers of payments etc...If i receive letters etc from creditors they've told me not to reply but to go straight to them and they will sort it out? Seems so much easier and much less stressful then doing it myself. My first payment is due out march 1st...so like you am stil in process of sorting it all out :( I've had 2 letters just this morning asking for contact. I have sent token payments to each company that i can (a few of hubby's accounts i can't access and he is not able to do it himself so i've left those- not sure what to do?!) Most of them i have managed to do minimum payments but some of them i can't afford the minimum so have sent just a small token.

Have you fallen behind with any of your payments yet is that what the letters were regarding or were they regarding the letters you have sent them? Not sure if someone has posted you a letter template to send to these companies regarding pestering phone calls? If not there is one somewhere on the site...basically asking them not to contact you any further via phone, but to send you mail instead?

I don't think it would be too late for you to go to the CCCS and ask them to take over for you? If you explain your personal circumstances they are very helpful and i'm sure would love to help....sorry i've rambled on for ages. Hope you are ok though and it gets sorted soon :)

Sent the letters out with SOA & a list of all my creditors along with my offer, all done via the CCCS web site with headers on all the paperwork. I’ve missed 1 payment on almost all but that was due to me swapping banks & not set up in time. I will make double the payment (my token offer) on all & explain I’ve made a missed payment last month.
