And that story is why I always run with both discs in the car, putting the new one in as soon at it arrives and removing the old one at some point afterwards, when I finally remember that it's still there.

I've had my new one on the car since 15th Jan, its not officially valid until 1st of Feb but I don't care, its a stupid rule. :beer:

If in doubt though just display both.

Like others have said I always put the new disc in the holder when I get it and leave the old disc on display on the windscreen until it's expired.

I understand you were trying to give examples of jobsworths but that case isn't directly relevant to the OP because it relates to a disc that had expired.

The disc only has an expiry date on it - any time left on an old disc is "covered" by the new expiry date. (rather like the MoT)
