Please can anyone confirm whether hd ready automatically means it is also digital? I know it means that it is ready to receive pictures that will be transmitted in the future in hd format, but just want to check that it will also receive digital tv without a digibox.

No, you still need a separate box - it will say something 'freeview tuner' if it's got one built in.0

HD Ready means it's ready to accept digital inputs. There are some that do include a digital tuner but not that many.0

it needs to have the "digital tick" (a pink tick in a box next to the word digital) or say freeview built-in. If you are going for a cheaper model they are often HD ready *OR* digital ready so be very careful when reading the specs.
Also some TVs proclaim to be HD ready when they are not - you need to still make sure it has a HDMI input, not just a HD resolution.
