Factory fitted Playstation in audi A8

hi there we have changed the Playstation 1 in the car and put in my son's Playstation 2. The RAC man kindly did it for us while he was in the boot of the car sorting out the battery. the playstation doesn't work though. Has anyone out there got one of these fitted in their car please and could they advise if you can swap the playstation 2 for the earlier one.

don't know if it's powering up - i don't think so. Will ask them to check. I know that at the point where the transformer would plug in on the PS1 it says 7 volts and on the PS2 apparently it says 8.5 volts so we're wondering if that may be the problem. We never actually used the PS1 as my son has PS2 but apparently when they tried the PS1 the red light came on but didn't change to green. Don't understand the post about MIB - is it something rude? i don't drive it by the way it's my partner's - i don't like automatics!

oh just realised it's probably men in Black 2 - can't answer that as I've never seen the film but coincidentally if you see a film called Route Irish directed by Ken Loach which is out some time this year then my OH's car is the one that the main artist is driving. he'll be crying if he sees it being mishandled!

I think the PS2 has an internal power supply that needs to be converted i think

there are guides on the net how to open it up and rewire it for 12v but it depends how its being powered at the moment. Is there a power invertor in the car somewhere or was it built into the PS1

also is it a slimline ps2 as they are different from the ps2 old style one
cant you just get an xbox 360 in there

hi thanks for all the replies. we're not at all technically minded which is why we were so grateful to RAC man - but didn't think to check whether it worked while he was still there! I will have another look on the web for help. The thought of putting his XBox in there is a frightener - he's obsessed enough with it in his room without having it on car journeys as well - mind you it might make him a bit more amenable to a trip out every so often!
