Hi,
Can anyone help please, I work for Tata Steel UK - based in Cradley we have just begun working with Marie Curie Cancer Care (Reg Charity No: 207994). We have set ourselves a massive task to raise £100k over the next 12mths.
Over the coming year Cradley alone have been set a target of £5k so I am desperately trying to organise events throughout the year to raise this money.
I am looking to organise a raffle shortly before the Great Daffodil Appeal (4th March) and to make the tickets £5 each I need prizes that are worth while. Is it possible for anyone to donate any items they either don't want or need? Cheeky I know but if I don't ask.................. Myself and my colleague Helen Pitt have tried every company we can think of and we aren't getting much of a response.
The support Marie Curie received in 2010 meant that 29,000 people were given the choice of where and how to spend their final days. To continue with their amazing help and support Marie Curie need to raise £9,212 every hour of every day.
We will be grateful for any help you can provide.

but the issue with big charities is how much of your 100k will go on service and how much on admin, our company supports lots of local stuff but don't give to the big admin hungry charities with lots of professional fund raisers.
not positive i know, but happier to give to people where 100% goes on what its raised for.The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -
Marie Curie cancer care nurses provide care to people who wish to spend their final days in their own homes, only 18% of people who wish to die at home can do. The money we will raise as a business will hopefully help to increase that number. That can only be a good thing surely.0

Hi mate
Crikey, that IS a big task! I really admire you for trying to raise that amount, every penny truly makes a difference. Here's some ideas for you...
1) Get a letter from your charity confirming that you're a genuine fundraiser - without this I don't think you'll get far
2) Join freecycle contact a mod and get approved as a genuine collector. Email everyone asking for raffle prizes, you'd be surprised what people will give you!
3) Have you thought about setting up a tuck shop? They're easy to do and can make a surprising amount of money.
4) Keep an eye on the grabbit forum, sometimes things come up that are really, really cheap and would make great prizes.
5) Remember that you have to work to sell your tickets so think about things like asking people around payday when they're feeling minted, giving people free tickets if they sell to their friends etc
6) Have you thought about doing a collection in town? Ring your local council and ask about getting permission, you can get a lot of money this way.0 -
btw if you are selling raffle tickets in advance you need to register and get properly printed tix, you can't legally just use cloakroom tix.
ask Marie Curie for advice about this.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
