Don't get caught up by the marketing hype that more megapixels makes a better camera. More important is the lens quality and the camera firmware ie how the camera processes the data received by the sensor.
Are you unhappy with the image quality from your current camera?
Take a look at https://www.dpreview.com and https://www.steves-digicams.com for camera reviews.Charlie0 -
It's funny how people want to go for the high MP. I've got a 7.1MP camera but it's always set to capture in 3.1MP and fine mode. I don't need to print out an a3 size picture so 3MP provides a great resolution.0

Try looking at the RICOH Caprio 4. Brilliant spec and picture taking.0

Thanks for all the suggestions.
How about a camera that still has good quality photos even when the zoom is in use...?
I recently went to a Concert, and having been a little far away from the stage i had to use the zoom button to get a closer shot but the quality of the photo was very poor...

I have just come back from a holiday in Sydney where I took a lot of Photos and saw others (mostly from the pacific basin) doing the same.
My camera was ok but I envied the fact that they had much larger lcd screens and could therefore view their pics far better than I could. Consequently I hope to buy this one (with a 3" lcd screen) for Christmas

I would guess that that camera only had a digital zoom, or you had gone beyond the optical zoom range and were using the digital zoom.Kelloggs wrote:I recently went to a Concert, and having been a little far away from the stage i had to use the zoom button to get a closer shot but the quality of the photo was very poor...
Make sure the camera you are getting has optical zoom. The cameras in your price range will have 3-4x optical zoom. If you want more, you'll have to spend more!Charlie0 -
I came across this Kodak Z650 Digital Camera [6.0MP, 10x optical zoom] recently, and although it's over your £100 budget, it looks like a nice deal.
