Is it worth claming working tax credit

I have had my working tax credits payments reduced to £17.78 as my girlfriend is no longer working, so i was thinking of stop claming wtc and doing overtime but the problem is there ain't always overtime going. so if i still claim wtc and do overtime will i have to contact wtc everytime i do overtime.

I would love to lose the £17 a week but if i do i will be worse off than some single person on the dole after my rent and council tax is paid. My gf contacted wtc to see why my payments have been reduced so much and they told her i have been overpayed as she didn't inform them she had finished work and started her maternity allowence. I know she did inform them as i was getting £67.13 a week and when she phoned them to say she had stopped work they told her they would sort it out, so i kept checking my bank and i was getting £48.64 a week, so when the reward letter turned up it was showing she was working so she phoned them again and they reduced my payments to £17.78. Also she was told when we was both working they put us on the rate for 30+ hours as both of our hours came to 40 hours a week.
