Just installed AdAware and ran it: 9.5 hours! Is this normal?
I already use Superantispyware and Malwarebytes (+Avast) so will prob de-install AdAware.

Well the time it takes will depend on the following:
Drive sizes (if you are scanning more than 1 drive.
Amount of RAM
CPU speed
So yes in theory it could take that long but should not, if you post the specs of your PC I can aid you further.0 -
Lol, AdAware, that used to be good about ten years ago. Uninstall it, it's a piece of bloated crud. 125MB download size tells you all you need to know. It will slow down your computer more than most malware. MBAM+SAS is more than sufficient.poppy100

Id guess your computers infected and adaware is rubbish at finding and removing nasties
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0 -
I ran a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials yesterday,it took over 8 hours to run,it found one Trojan installer & seven items of Adware, which were missed on a quick scan.
I run a this & a scan with SpyBot once a week to be sure.0 -

you'd be better running mbam once a week than spybot - sb is only good for the Immunise feature and it's other tools......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
