Dog insurance from Animal Friends. Any good?

Options
I have recently adopted a greyhound from the sspca and was looking at quotes for pet insurance now that his 4wks free insurance is nearly up.

I have came across a company called animal friends and was wondering if anyone has used them and are they any good?

I currently have my other dog insured with morethan but like to move away from them and obviously put the 2 dogs on the same policy.
Free stuff is GOOD stuff :p

Hi, have a look at the big sticky pet insurance thread:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/108056

Their website sounds great but Im a bit concerned about the review site:

Thanks hethmar. The reviews of Animal Friends have totally put me off them. The quote, at £9-ish a month was good compared to what I'm paying now, but if they're as bad as people are saying I won't bother with them.

Didn't know the review web page existed so it was really helpful.

Its difficult isnt it, because its likely more people with complaints would bother to add reviews ............

My sister has her rottie b i tch insured with these, she pays just over £20 a month for premuim cover and has had no problems, When her girl needed a crutiate ligament op done they paid out no trouble.

  • Hi

We insured our 6 year old Shih-tzu with Animal Friends when we first got her and had to make a claim for an operation and it was no problem although when the vet heard who we were insured with they said 'oh they hardly ever pay out'. Stayed with them for 2 years then changed due to better price elsewhere. I have just gone back with them this year as they were one of the cheapest for the type of cover and will need to make another claim soon so watch this space!!

I insure with them for my 2 dogs and 1 pony.

Unfortunately one of my dogs died suddenly on Sunday and am putting in a claim. What I would say is that it took 2 days to get through to the claims dept. The line was either engaged or the queue was 14 people ahead. No-one can hold on that long.

When you do get through the girls are lovely but 2 days is just not acceptable when you have to psyche yourself up to make a distressing call.

My case is very genuine, my dog died of a massive heart attack and if there's any messing about i'll cancel my other 2 policies and go elsewhere.
