16yr Old - Debit Card

Dear MoneySavers,
Im 16yrs old and am looking for an account that will allow me to have debit card. Im not too fussed about interest rates etc, i'll just put money in when i want to use the debit card rather than use it as my savings account. Currently i havn't been able to find one, although i'm sure i know someone who has one.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Stefanie

It appears to me that with most current accounts you can get a debit card if you are over 18.
I dont think that credit history makes any difference with a debit card? Please correct me if i'm wrong

My daughter is 15 and opened a Abbeynational bank account she has a debit (LINK) card where she can withdraw her money as required. There is no over draft facility with it so she can not get in to debt and will only be able to spend money she has in the account.Competitions wins 2010

Does this debit (LINK) card do more than a simple cash LINK card? As in, can it be used to purchase from online etc?
Thanks0 -

Lloyds TSB - Visa Debit for people 16+ (3.30% interest)
Bank of Scotland/Halifax - Visa Electron for those 11+ (1.50% interest)
Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank - Maestro for those 13+ (3.10% interest approx)
Abbey - Visa Electron for those 16+ (Cheque book too) (1.50% interest)
Based on this, Lloyds is the best option since you get a card with very good acceptance, built in fraud protection (Visa chargeback scheme) and a fair rate of interest.
Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB both provide online banking, not sure about the others (I think Clydesdale Bank provide it as well but you need to ask for it)0 -
My first bank account was a barclayplus account and I got a cheque book and electron card with that. Funnily enough when I turned 18 they refused me a proper current account with a cheque guarantee card or anything.. :mad:Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
