Randomly... do any of you knit? I taught myself how to do basic knitting just before LO was born, but never got further than knitting a 5x5 inch square that was supposed to be a cardigan one day :rotfl: I'd love to learn how to do it properly. My nesting instinct makes me want to knit :o

I do, I do!!! ;) Happy to help with any advice, problems, step by step tutorials etc ~ more people should knit, it would make the world a better place!

    Morning everyone!

Feeling strangely positive today which probably means something bad is going to come along and spoil my good mood at some point, so I'm enjoying the feeling while I can :rotfl:

It's lovely that there are a few of us thinking about TTC at the same time :T Always nice to have buddies along the way, especially as I got really stressed about it last time. You get it drilled into you your entire life that if you have unprotected sex ONE TIME you WILL get pregnant... so when it took 6 months of rigorous 'trying' last time and nothing was happening, I got a bit worried. I promise I will be more chilled this time

I think your right about waiting till next month Katali. Even then that would mean I could deliver at the beginning of December, and My exam will be between 18-28 November!

Saorsie and anyone else, I would be most grateful for being pointed in the right direction for knitting baby clothes. I don't know if thats a big ask for a beginner, but I'd love to be able to make a little cardigan :j I think I learnt how to do a basic 'stitch' (do you still call them stitches in knitting?) last time and, like I say, I could do a square. Is there hope for me? :o

Not left the house today as LO is a bit under the weather and woke at 5AM this morning with a nasty cough, so she's been snuggled in front of he TV and I've been doing house stuff. When I got the curry out of the freezer for tonight I discovered I had some minced beef in there too, and some other unidentifiable meat :rotfl: I must have got it at the farmers market last month so it doesn't have a proper label on it and it's covered in frost so I have no idea... maybe I should make 'surprise pie' with it :rotfl:

Going into town when little'n wakes up to post a cheque and the last of my ebay items and then the sports centre this evening to spend my pocket money.

    Got work tomorrow. Booooo.

Yes of course there is hope :p ~ you'll be off in no time. Find a simple pattern in garter stitch (every row knit which is the basic stitch you referred to) and also look on U-tube where there are loads of good video tutorials. You'll be better off using a double knit weight of wool to start with as it's easier to work with and something that doesn't need lots of shaping. Will have a scoot around see if I can find anything to post up ;)

    Take care

Try this for size It looks lovely and isn't too difficult

Just got in from work and OH is heating up the curry for me :)

I have good news and bad news....

Good news: The meeting last weekend gave me a chance to do some serious networking (I hate networking. I hate doing small talk with people I don't know, but it really does improve your career prospects) and one of ladies I was talking to has got me a space at a central council meeting in London, which is a big ****ing deal! I'm so pleased! :rotfl: THE top people are going to be there and there was only one space left on the board and I got it! :j

Bad news: As I said... it's in London... I'm in the midlands... it's short notice and the train ticket aint going to be cheap. Plus, it's on my daughters birthday  I was due to have the day off with her but then this came up. I can't just abandon her to nursery on her brirthday (even though her party is the day after) so OH is going to have the day off and bring her to London with me :D The meeting should only last 3-4 hours or so, so they can go to the London Aquarium or something and meet me afterwards :) This wont all come cheap though. The tickets alone are going to cost over £100... but it's one of those 'I can't not do this' things. :o

No money saving or making to report really, but looking forward to getting paid next week! :j

Take care everyone and enjoy your weekends!

Saorsie, If i could make that top I would be totally over the moon! :j I'll get my knitting needles out tonight and have a look at what wool I have so I can start up again. A friend of mine is due in 20 weeks and I'd -love- to be able to give her something I've made as there's something really lovely about hand knit baby clothes, like there has been real time, love and care put into them :) I'll let you know how I get on.

DFW, Thank you! I'm really looking forward to going as I love London, even though I'm a country girl at heart :o

Me and LO have spent the morning playing around the house and digging in the garden again, though I've not plucked up the courage to plant anything yet as I know the second I do it'll just snow :rotfl:We'll walk down to her nana's when she wakes up from her nap and take the dog out for a walk to the park, all fun and free :T

Got an email from music magpie saying they've received my parcel and are checking the items before paying me, and I'm still waiting for the tax disc money back but I'm guessing that'll take a few weeks. Plus, OH sent an invoice for some work he did last week so maybe we'll get paid for that next week... actually, that's quite a lot of money making all in all :T Shame it'll all get wiped out when I go to London :rotfl: DOH!

Need to check my cupboards later to see if I've got some Folic acid tablets left :D

Forcing myself to write but I'm soooo tired so I'm going do this, do a bit of knitting :D and head to bed.

I've been spending all evening trying to work out this trip to London. Looking at the train fares it's actually cheaper to go down the night before and stay over at a B&B rather than paying £160 return just for me

I've found a really nice B&B that I've emailed to see if they have a triple room, which is £105, but good location and gets rave reviews (I don't want to take little one to anywhere unsanitary!). The tickets will be £58 each return, so not too bad, but the £220+ total is not boding well for my debt busting :(

I just keep telling myself its a one off thing and in the long run if it helps me get a better job it'll pay for itself.... that my excuse :o

Hubby did get paid £75 for some overtime today, so thats something at least :T

I'll work through all my account totals tomorrow and see where I stand.

    Night all. X

P.S. Knitting going fab so far but very slow! I've done about 3cm worth of rows :p

  • Hi DB,

I think your trip is worth the money, look at it as an investment, and a treat, all rolled in to one! That way, it's almost like the trip is free :-)

Well done on the knitting, I'm heading over to my mum's sometime this week so she can show me how to cast off and on again, as I've forgotten. I've pretty much finished a square, but now I'm stuck with it on my needles!

On the pregnancy theme, giving birth in Jan woud be pretty much perfect, but too much later and you end up on maternity leave through the summer holidays, which equals much less pay over a holiday which is definitely not the plan! So there are drawbacks to starting trying in April. Also, does anyone take pregnancy supplements, and if so which ones? I keep reading that you should start taking them before you start trying, and while you're trying, as well as when you're pregnant, but the pr3gnacare ones seem very expensive, even on the 3 for 2 that t"£$o currently has them for!

    Morning,

The problem with having January babies is that their birthday is so close to Christmas.

Well done with the knitting DB, my Mum taught me to knit when I was young and I could follow a pattern but I haven't done any for the best part of 20 years and can't remember now. When DD was born, I was given a beautiful hand knitted shawl which I love, the only problem was it stank of fags :rotfl:

When you come to London and are planning for DH to take DD out for a while, check ebay for 2 for 1 vouchers or Tesco vouchers. You could get in places cheaper :D

Where abouts in London are you going? Is it central? Just thinking if it was out of the way a bit you could look for them to find a leisure centre that does soft play or something?
