What is it like editing from the hard disk to dvd ? I want to copy a dvd to the hard drive then edit the copy as I have a mix of things I want to put on separate dvd's.

I use a standalone Panasonic DMR-EX75 dvd/receiver/player/HDD recorder/DVD recorder. This records off-air or from DVDs and allows editing/splitting and subsequent recording to DVDs.
I also use a PC for copying DVDs or material from videocameras, and then editing and recording onto DVDs.
In use, they are very different and have strengths and weaknesses. (We are of course not talking about commercial copy-protected DVDs - they are a different matter).
