wow great saving! I thought it was going to end in....and we have to pay xxx amount more! :rotfl:!

I can't believe how short this term is, DS1 has only just settled back into the routine of getting up early, doing prep, and going to bed on time lol and now he will get another week off come thursday :rotfl:have to say though i'm secretly glad to have him home each time ;)!

How's life as a MRS? Have you changed all your bank accounts etc, that took me forever to do as I kept forgetting a credit card here or there, or a catalogue- back in the days when head was in sand obviously lol-

Hope you got your lists all done! Thinking of making one myself this evening, just to pass the time of course :p

So we had a fairly productive weekend. Saturday was spent cleaning kitchen, bathroom and front room. Today we have had the photographer come round with our photos and spent some time looking at those, then we have decided we need to really tackle the bedroom. Started off by bringing the entire "ironing" pile into the front room - about 3 baskets worth ! Put it into various piles, e.g. my work clothes, underwear, bedding, etc. Got rid of about a baskets worth of stuff that didn't need to be ironed. Then I spent over an hour and a half ironing  while the hubby made dinner. That hour and a half cleared about a quarter of the pile so we have made a reasonable dent in it :D. Aim to iron another quarter through the week as well, aren't I good? :A

Hopefully next weekend we can finish clearing properly because I want to decorate while I am off, if possible.

 you don't iron your underwear or bedding do you???

I went through a crazy phase when pregnant with DD that I ironed EVERYTHING that came out of the washing machine....including tea towels that i thought were pretty and so needed to look nice :rotfl:DH thought i was 'wired' and nearly sent me to the nut house....he never complained about the bedding or his underwear though haha xx

No way! Underwear, bedding, pyjamas and towels had all got dumped in the ironing pile with the rest of the clean washing. When we went through the "ironing" pile we got rid of a large chunk just by putting that sort of stuff away! I hate ironing and avoid it at all costs, hence why the pile has got so large! I love it cos DH always says not to iron his work stuff as he does a "scruffy" job anyway and his work clothes are generally dried on hangers so they don't look bad. x

So I have been good again and have ironed all the newly cleaned and dried washing as well as about 5 bits from the mountain of ironing we already had. I know its not much but I am still chipping away at it rather than just adding to it.

DFW, I didn't see your other post until just now for some reason... strange! This term has been very short - just 6 weeks with 3 days off for bank holidays. I love the school holidays!

And life as a MRS isn't much different actually. Its calmer as there is no more wedding planning to do and year 11s have left school but relationship wise I don't feel like much has changed. Have changed both bank accounts. Have changed my name at work which means my pigeonhole is right at the bottom now, which is great for a shorty like me! Need to sort out getting my drivers licence changed but that means having to remember to carry my passport with me as I get ID'd for everything! I have a million and one other little things to change as well.

It feels like ages since I have last been on here (about 3 weeks to be more precise) and thought I better update and stop slacking!

Unfortunately debt has gone up - we overspent by about £700 on the wedding and DH has just spent about £650 on some new work equipment, which means our debt now stands at about £19,800 . To be fair, DH's work equipment was necessary for him to start his own business (something he wants to do within the next 3 months) and it was a real bargain (most others are about £800) so although I am annoyed about it adding to the debt total, I know it will earn back the money and more.

I finally got my bum into gear over half-term and applied for my tax rebate - I reckon I am due about £1,150 but we shall see, don't want to get my hopes up too much :o

I am becoming a bit obsessive about money saving now - I am v.broody so want to clear debt asap. Never mind, it will help focus the mind!

Decided against the monthly grocery challenge as I buy meat in bulk so puts some months as much more expensive than others (e.g. spent £65 this month on chicken, mince and bacon that should last 2-3 months). So looking at an average monthly grocery challenge instead. Currently spending about £180 per month, which isn't too bad considering I was spending £210 a month last year.

Anyway, will be back again soon

  • hey hun

Perhaps you should join the grocery challenge they do for the year instead, so it all kinda averages out..i also have more expensive months, when the nappies, wipes & meat run out! lol

Glad to see you're still about and well :) keep posting!

Blooming hell! Its been about 6 weeks since I last posted! Just a quick update then I have to get on again:
    • Hubby has just been given a £3 an hour payrise, meaning around an extra £350 a month net salary :j. Said he can treat himself to a new telly with the 1st months as he has been asking for about a year now. But he knows after that it will all be going to clearing our debts.
    • Got my cheque for nearly £1k from HMRC for overpaid tax! Used to clear overdraft and took the rest for our honeymoon:D
    • I get a small payrise starting in the new school year (about an extra £50 a month take home). Again, this will go towards clearing debts.
Going on our honeymoon tomorrow so should go and iron, pack and clean the flat! I am soooo excited!! :j:j:j
