  • Think hen night is finally sorted, but no fancy dress! Might have a theme though.

Need to get back on the money saving wagon, we have not been so great in the last week. Thankfully its half-term now :j so have time to be organised and sort stuff out.

  • Ok, so I spoke to soon about feeling fine! Don't feel 100% at the mo, waiting for the medicines to kick in. Have so far managed to do all the washing up and drying up, made dinner (stew, currently in the slow cooker) and emptied, cleaned and refilled cats litter tray.

Yesterday I met up with all bridesmaids, got them to try on the bridesmaids dresses (which looked fab, you would never know they cost £30 from ebay!:D) and managed to sort a day for the hen night and have more of a definate idea what I am doing now. Have unfortunately allowed myself to be persuaded into fancy dress of schoolgirl as I am a teacher....

However, a little annoyed at one of the bridesmaids today. She was engaged and her and her fiance split at Xmas. A couple of weeks ago she text me asking if she had a plus one and I said no as we don't have the space. She text me again about 30mins ago saying "are you sure I can't have a plus one as I would have thought you would have accounted for P (her ex)?" She has been told no once, why the bloody hell is she asking again!!! Text her back quite bluntly saying "No, have invited more people since then. There are people who I would like at my wedding who I cant have as I don't have enough space so I don't want someone I don't even know there." I am sure I will be seen as a b*tch but oh well!

  • I haven't been great at updating this lately and when I do all I seem to do is moan, so I am turning over a new, more positive leaf! :)

Went food shopping today and spent just over £25 on shopping but that made enough fishcakes for 4 dinners for me and h2b, and a whole chicken which will provide us with a roast, some curry and maybe even some chicken sandwiches! Will need to do a "big shop" on Friday to last till next Saturday but with nearly £40 left of this months GC budget I am confident we will not break our target.

Was begining to panic about paying the remaining deposit on the honeymoon but remembered I get paid just before month end so will have lots "spare" to pay for it! Will just have to make sure we keep increasing our "underspend" (what we earn compared to what we spend).

Got a BIG MSE job for tomorrow - send letters to companys I previously worked for asking for copies of P45/P60/Statement of Earnings so I an finally get the ball rolling for applying for a tax rebate - I reckon I am entitled to somewhere around £1k :j

  • Hey Walby,

Firstly.... YAY FOR FANCY DRESS! Always makes for a fun night :D

I totally understand why you wouldn't want some stranger at the wedding and I'd be just the same. I don't know how your working it but maybe you could suggest she invites her +1 along for the evening disco/dance after the meal, if your doing it that way? She maybe just wants him to see her looking glam in her gorge dress you got her :)

Good luck on the tax rebate thing... they seemed to automatically do mine last year and I got £600 :j Well worth going for it!

Take care, speak to you soon.

  • Hi all,

DB, not sure she is even seeing someone, I think she just wants to bring a friend so she isn't on her "own". But I have said no to plus ones for people who have already been with their partners 2 months plus so will have been together more than 6months by the wedding itself. Seems really stingy but the hall limit is 120 people and we are already at 116. If we allowed all those who wanted one a +1 we would be well truely over numbers-wise.

Anyway, didn't get round to sorting those letters out, stupid me! But on the plus side my kitchen is now at showroom standard! :p Been meaning to give it a proper top-to-bottom for ages! So now those letters are now job number 1 tomorrow. On the downside of cleaning today, I realised I need a few cleaning products which will make it a little trickier to stay on target with the February GC but I like a challenge! :rotfl:

Meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow but may say I have already eaten and just get a drink to save money.

  • So some good MSE things today:
    1. Friend was feeling poorly so cancelled lunch.
    2. Sorted out and sent letters to get necessary info to apply for large tax rebate.
    3. Spent about £25 on shopping and had a £4 voucher meaning that the total spend on groceries this month is circa £125 - £15 under GC budget!:T
    4. H2b said last night that he plans to sell all his models as wedding/honeymoon/starting a family are more important - he sold one before xmas for about £40 and has another 8 with the same value! So extra money AND extra space

Still don't feel like I can "see light at the end of the tunnel" just yet, but I am sure I will get there in time!

  • Dear Diary,

Woohoo, h2b has added up the selling prices of all his models and, provided he sells everything, thats over £800 towards the honeymoon :T:j:rotfl::D. I am a very happy lady - didn't realise his junk was worth that much!

Been thinking about when it would be possible to start ttc. Decided we need to achieve a number of goals first, namely:
    1. Pay off CC.
    2. Pay off Wedding Loan.
    3. Pay off Main Loan.
    4. Buy a larger home, at least two bedrooms.
    5. H2b earning £15 per hour.

These seem like massive goals, but in order to be a mum in the way I want to be this is what needs to happen. I think in order to help motivation, I need to just focus on one goal at a time instead of allowing myself to be overwhelmed by everything.

I have a v.exciting wedding job at the weekend - dress fitting!!!! Can't wait to see what it looks like on me again!
